A Society with mission

We are UYRDC

Vision :

To establish ecological, social and economic environment in which mountain people can experience increased well-being and can foresee continued sustainable settlement for themselves and future generation.

Mission :

UYRDC pursues holistic wellbeing of Himalayan communities by facilitating collective, sovereign and equitable engagement to enable desired changes for themselves in socio-economic and environment spheres.

Genesis :

Uttaranchal Youth and Rural Development Centre (UYRDC), amongst the early civil societies in district Chamoli, was established in the year 1986, District Chamoli of Uttarakhand Himalayan State (the erstwhile Uttarpradesh hills). The society was born out of immense aspiration, desire and convection of native youths from various walks of life (social workers, educationists and volunteers), to collectively pursue for holistic wellbeing of Himalayan rural communities, as the residents were yet coping under innumerable challenges, persisting uncertainties and hardships, emanating in harsh hinterlands of country’s last boarder districts, the Uttarakhand Himalayan landscape. The society is nestled in Narayanbagar Development Block of District Chamoli, by the banks of river Pinder (tributary of River Ganga) at an altitude of 1054 mtrs (MSL), within warm-temperate climate, endowing rich Himalayan diversity.

UYRDC celebrates international year of Millets and native landraces for holistic wellbeing of marginal farmer communities in the Himalayas.
